Superstition vs. Planned Parenthood
Wednesday, August 19, 2015 by Christine

For the past few months we have seen Planned Parenthood in the news. The circulation of videos (of which I believe there should be a total of nine) has garnered much attention and outrage.

While munching salads and swilling wine, those at the top of the organization's hierarchy coolly discuss the extraction of aborted baby body parts, how to best preserve such and sell them for big profit. There is even the suggestion that PP removes late term babies from their mothers' wombs and allows them to live until their hearts give out. This is done to get the "freshest" baby parts possible, resulting in bigger dollars to be pocketed.

While all this has been going on, I came across an article just about as shocking and outrageous as the expose' of PP.

For years, China has been ingesting a delicacy known as "Sparerib Soup." This culinary delight is known for containing the body parts of aborted babies. The Chinese believe it is an elixir, a way to improve health and increase longevity.

Both uses of extinguished life disturb me. Abortion reminds me of God's word in Leviticus 18:21: "And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Moloch..." (King James Version) People threw their offspring into a fire as a sacrifice to this pagan god. In addition to performing sexual rituals on his behalf, first-born children were offered up in the belief that Moloch would guarantee a family financial prosperity. Thousands of years later, countless first born babies are aborted by teens and young women because they haven't yet established themselves in terms of a completed education, attainment of gainful employment and financial stability. Many second, third, fourth, etc. babies are aborted because parents do not have faith that God will supply all their needs so that they can support another mouth to feed...hmm.

I am unashamedly pro-life and oftentimes controversial in my writing. A devastating journey through infertility has undoubtedly shaped my views. Still, I believe in God's word: "For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13 (NIV Translation) And I believe in this from the moment sperm meets egg. Furthermore, God's breath of life breathed into the unborn is a sacred mystery: "Just as you do not understand the way of the spirit in the womb of a pregnant mother, so also you do not know what God is doing in everything he makes." Ecclesiastes 11:5 (International Standard Version). (It's interesting to note that God considers a pregnant woman to already be a mother).

But just because I consider myself pro-life does not mean that I am anti-choice as is the presumption of those who call themselves pro-choice. Choice is a part of our God-given free will as human beings and it is not my place to condemn any for what they choose. We are confronted by hundreds of decisions we must make each week. Sometimes I write in the hopes that I can offer a little different perspective on matters, maybe a bit of a deeper understanding of life's issues.

Statistically, we know that an overwhelming majority of women who abort suffer with their choice. Scientifically we are increasingly more aware that the unborn experience pain through abortion.

Yet, when it comes to ignorance and superstition vs. the knowledge that we are taking someone else's loss, grief and pain (for most abortions produce just that), and using this in conjunction with medical technology to gain the almighty buck, are we not throwing life into the fire to worship Moloch? Think about it.
