Whatever Their World View, No, The Kids Are Not Alright, Part 4 of 4
Tuesday, May 21, 2024 by Christine

Confusion and deception hang thick over America, perpetuated by people who have either on purpose, or unwittingly succumbed to be vehicles for it. Kids raised by Christian parents should be taught prophetic truths. They need an understanding that in these last days deception and hatred for Christians is on the increase…even in America.

It is just as Jesus warned, “In the last days perilous times will come” (2 Timothy 3:1). 2

Timothy goes on to talk about the degradation of man’s character at this time. There will be “lovers of self.” We have millions living “my own truth” and gender, and selfishly killing their babies in the womb while they feel inspired enough by murder to “Shout their abortions.” There will be the “unholy blasphemers.” And, the open mocking of God has never been seen like it currently is in this nation. “…despisers of those who are good and false accusers.”

Condemnation and persecution of Christians is growing. There has been the seizure of children’s Bibles simply because they are reading them on public school grounds during lunch. Red lines have crossed out the name of Jesus from their papers by teachers, and there are endless lawsuits against Christians. Silently praying in public came with an egregious cost to a dad doing so with his son outside of an abortion clinic. He was suspended from his job as a police officer. This current administration wants to jail several pro-lifers for up to ten years.

But the good news is that God’s Word tells us, “Dear friends don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you” (1 Peter 4:12). The truth is, Christian persecution has been rather the norm for thousands of years. Yet we see a generation of youth in need of firmer grounding in the faith to defend it. In this way, they can make an impact on the Rachels on campuses who desperately need the Lord and to be saved.

For years during my walk with the Lord I never heard preaching on eschatology in order to understand the times we are living in. Neither did I hear solid, Biblical preaching on spiritual warfare and the power given to us through Christ to effectively battle the devil and his cohorts. Estimates are that up to eighty percent of churches do not preach about end times. Reasons may range from pastors not really believing we are close to Christ’s return based on the prophetic clock when Israel became a nation again, to not wanting to alarm their congregations. Yet, it is true at the same time that many a pastor and church feel burdened by this nation’s rapid degradation and depravity. We must stop being blindsided by Satan and his minions doing what they have always done, even at Christian denominational universities or churches. He is especially active where God’s children are, intimidating, manipulating and dominating.

For our young people, piercing the growing darkness of culture does not happen by mimicking those who live in that darkness with objections of feeling triggered, offended or targeted. We have a mandate to be fearless in following Christ, expecting and even rejoicing in persecution.

Sadly, statistics are that anywhere from fifty to eighty percent of Christian students walk away from their faith or stop attending church during their college years. The number one pattern among students who do is new worldviews learned in their classes and from other students. (Italics mine). Other patterns include apathy and underdeveloped spiritual habits like prayer (Christian Standard, 09/05/22, “Preventing Christian Drop Outs: Helping Students Stay Faithful Through the College Years”).

I believe we are living in the age of the Laodicean church. The Lord is urging His church away from complacency and compromise with the world. My heart breaks for Rachel, who appears to have “…traded the truth about God for a lie. So, she (they) worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise!” (Romans 1:25). My heart also breaks for the presumed Catholic student penalized for referring to God as male, unprepared with an answer. Who will mentor her in or out of a church in order that she may understand and utilize the authority given to all of us in Christ to defeat our enemy? Satan is already a defeated foe through His death and resurrection on the cross, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ tells us to “Take heart, He has already overcome the world” (John 16:33).

America has a mission field right on its own soil, not just in faraway, third-world nations. In fact, places in African nations, the Middle East and Asia put we Americans to shame with their miles’ long walks to attend church, real risk of torture or martyrdom, and their Spirit-filled peoples who may worship for the entirety of the Sabbath day. Here, the mission field is walking straight into classrooms all over America and other Western nations. Righteous adults, pastors, clergy and other students of the faith should not shy away from being out of their comfort zones. Rather, the focus should be on just how ripe this harvest is. The only thing that will help young adults to be healthy psychologically, emotionally and spiritually is the good news of the gospel message and Jesus. We need Him more than ever.
